WE ARE VR

Get fluent in VR, AR and XR, a couple of minutes a day.

A daily habit app for iPhone that teaches virtual and augmented reality in short lessons with animated illustrations, plus daily trivia and an XR fact of the day. The lessons work offline.

One email when it launches. No spam.

The problem

XR is moving fast, and there's no easy way in.

VR headsets, AR and smart glasses keep getting better, and they're turning up at work, in games and in the news. The words around them pile up just as fast: six degrees of freedom, pancake lenses, hand tracking.

If you're curious but not a developer, there isn't a friendly way to get fluent. Most explainers assume you already know the jargon.

WE ARE VR teaches XR the way language apps teach words: a few minutes a day, in plain words, with jargon explained the first time it comes up.

  • 72 short lessons

18 units with seven kinds of card: concept, multiple choice, true or false, match, put in order, fill the blank and an estimate slider.

  • 49 animated illustrations

From the stereoscope and the Sensorama to pancake lenses, six degrees of freedom and hand tracking.

  • Daily trivia and a fact of the day

A 237-question trivia bank with no repeats within a cycle, and 104 XR facts.

  • Streaks and quests

Streaks, freezes, hearts, XP, gems, daily quests, achievements and reminders. A Monday Wins quest lets you log an XR win each week.

  • Pick your focus

VR and 360, Smartglasses and AR, Immersive audio, or all of it, with "For you" badges. There's a unit on Joburg's own XR story too.

Be first in.
