Venice VR Expanded Preview Worlds

Venice VR Expanded 2021 ran online and in VRChat for the 78th Venice International Film Festival. Dale Deacon built VRChat trailer-preview experiences for five titles in the programme, so social-VR audiences could step into a taste of each work before opening the full piece on headset platforms.

Role

Preview worlds only. The films, series, and their awards belong to their makers; the credit here is the VRChat trailer experiences around them.

What it tests

A festival strand in social VR needs doorways. Preview worlds test how much of a piece's tone can be carried in a few minutes of space — enough to make someone put the headset back on for the full work.
