VRChess
Giant chess in a city street, played with soldiers.
A VRChat world with a full-size chess board set into a city plaza. The pieces are animated soldiers that march, attack and fall. The game is built and tested in VRChat's simulator, and it hasn't been uploaded yet.

The problem
Online chess is a flat board on a screen.
Most chess you play online is two people clicking pieces on a flat board. You see the moves, but not the person across from you, and a capture is a piece blinking off the board.
VRChess puts the board in a VRChat world, at a size you can walk around, with your opponent standing on the other side and every capture played out by the soldiers.
Real chess rules
The full rules, with a promotion picker and draws, including threefold repetition.
Soldiers, not pieces
Every piece is an animated soldier that moves, attacks and dies on the board.
Sit down and play
Join White or Join Black stations, seats and a reset button. The board is networked, so people who join late see the game as it stands.
Built for Quest too
A Quest build with mobile materials, Quest versions of the soldiers and no realtime shadows, so it runs on standalone headsets.
