Venice Immersive (2026)
Venice Immersive is the VR/AR strand of the Venice International Film Festival — the oldest film festival in the world. In 2026 Worldbuild built the official VRChat Worlds Gallery with Mike "Manglebird" Salmon and festival curators Liz Rosenthal and Michel Reilhac (MetaVerse Crew constellation). More than 35,000 visitors entered the hub for the 83rd edition's Best of Worlds selection — the section's tenth anniversary.
Role
VR worldbuilding and production for the social-VR venue layer: wayfinding, featured worlds, and a public place that survives peak load. Third consecutive Worlds Gallery commission after 2024 and 2025 — same festival, same problem class, anniversary programme.
What it tests
A festival booth is a claim. A social-VR gallery is a city: capacity, orientation, accessibility, and a record people can return to after the physical Lido closes. Ten years of Venice Immersive still hinges on whether the hub world opens under load. See venice-immersive-field-notes for the operational lessons.
Press and platform coverage only matter if the world ID still opens.
