Age Up

Learn Age of Empires II, one 2-minute lesson at a time.

A fan-made learning app with a cartoon Caesar as your coach. Short lessons take you from Dark Age basics to Imperial Age play, built on the habits good players swear by.

The problem

Getting good at Age of Empires II is a lot to take in.

Age of Empires II has a steep learning curve. The habits that separate new players from good ones, like never letting your Town Center sit idle, following a build order, and knowing when to rush and when to boom, aren't laid out anywhere in one place.

Most of that know-how is scattered across pro streams and long videos. That works if you have hours to watch. It's harder if you just want to get a bit better before your next game.

Age Up turns that know-how into 2-minute lessons with quick questions, so you can learn the game a few minutes at a time.

  • 50 lessons across four ages

Work through the Dark, Feudal, Castle and Imperial Ages, with units on picking a civ and on playstyles: rush, fast castle, forward castle, boom and turtle.

  • Field notes, then questions

Each lesson starts with illustrated explainer cards and a pro tip, then checks what stuck with multiple-choice, true/false and ordering questions.

  • Start where you are

New to the game? Begin with the basics. Already play? Skip ahead to the Feudal, Castle or Imperial Age. Skipped lessons stay unlocked.

  • The War Manual

Every tip, searchable in one place. Plus XP, stars, a daily streak and ranks that start at Villager.

  • Caesar as your coach

A cartoon Julius Caesar cheers you on, on a parchment-and-heraldry look. Age Up isn't affiliated with or endorsed by Microsoft or World's Edge. Age of Empires is a trademark of Microsoft.
