Venice Immersive (2025)
Venice Immersive is the VR/AR strand of the Venice International Film Festival — the oldest film festival in the world. In 2025 Worldbuild built the official VRChat Worlds Gallery with Mike "Manglebird" Salmon and festival curators Liz Rosenthal and Michel Reilhac (MetaVerse Crew constellation). More than 45,000 visitors entered to reach competition works and a Best of VRChat selection.
Role
VR worldbuilding and production for the social-VR venue layer: wayfinding, featured works, and a public place that survives peak load. This continues the 2024 venue commission — same festival, same problem class, higher traffic.
What it tests
A festival booth is a claim. A social-VR gallery is a city: capacity, orientation, accessibility, and a record people can return to after the physical Lido closes. Curation without a shared map fails; beauty without room limits fails harder. See venice-immersive-field-notes for the operational lessons.
Press and platform coverage — UploadVR, Voices of VR, Film Verdict, VRChat's own channels — only matter if the world ID still opens.
