Africa XR Report
The Africa XR Report is a first-of-its-kind study of the extended reality ecosystem on the continent. It was led by Judith Okonkwo (Imisi 3D) and Dale Deacon (TeamEpic), funded by Meta, and announced at Meta's XR exhibition in Lagos in October 2022. The 326-page report draws on surveys across 20 African countries to map the opportunities, challenges, and players in African XR.
Role
Co-lead author and researcher, 2021–2022.
What it tests
A region nobody has mapped is a region funders and platforms can ignore. The report tests whether research can make an ecosystem legible — to builders, institutions, and the people deciding where to invest. See making-a-region-legible.
